About

Diana Coop

I have over 25 years of hands-on experience in the conservation and care of a range of paper-based materials. I have worked as a specialist paper conservator at major galleries, museums and archives in New Zealand and Australia.

Additionally I have nearly ten years experience as a collection care manager at Archives New Zealand, responsible for the preservation of all of New Zealand’s archived government records across four locations.

Some of the works of cultural and national significance include:

  • Frances Hodgkins

  • Treaty of Waitangi / Te Tiriti o Waitangi

  • Colin McCahon

  • Women’s Suffrage Petition 1893

  • Rembrandt

As well as personal letters, family documents and whakapapa/genealogical records.

I am a professionally trained paper conservator. As a full member of the NZCCM, New Zealand Conservators of Cultural Materials  Pū Manaaki Kahurangi my work abides by their Code of Ethics. I have run my private studio in Wellington, serving New Zealand, since 2014.
